Inside Out Project

The Inside Out Project is a participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. In 2011, the French artist JR started this innovative project in order to increase community awareness. The Inside Out Project asks anyone to contribute a black and white photograph of themselves, uploaded to the project website, that reveals something about their personal story and journey. The images are then printed in poster size and returned back to their owners to be pasted up somewhere in their city or area.

You can contact them via Facebook or Twitter and have a look on their website and JR’s website.

The Project just started in NYC last week. People are invited to take their self-portraits in a specially designed photo booth stationed in Times Square.
